Founded in 2011, FGCU Men's Rugby has spent more than a decade building a tradition of competition, camaraderie, and community at Florida Gulf Coast University. The FGCU Women's Rugby Club followed in 2013, giving even more students the opportunity to discover the sport and compete at the collegiate level.

Over the years, FGCU Rugby became more than just a club sport. It became a home for students looking for competition, friendship, leadership, and a community that extended well beyond their college years.

Like countless sports organizations around the world, FGCU Rugby was dramatically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The interruption of competition, campus activities, recruitment, and student involvement created challenges that continued long after sports began returning to normal. For a student-run club, losing multiple seasons and graduating generations of players made rebuilding particularly difficult.

But the FGCU Rugby story didn't end.

The club's alumni have continued to keep the spirit of FGCU Rugby alive through an alumni team that has traveled for beach rugby tournaments across Florida and around the country for more than a decade. From Beerfoot Beach Rugby in Fort Myers to Midnight Sevens in Alaska, former Eagles have continued to put on the jersey, reconnect with teammates, and represent the rugby community they helped build.

Today, FGCU Rugby is entering a new chapter.

The club is actively working to re-form and rebuild both the men's and women's programs and return FGCU to the competitive collegiate rugby community. This is an opportunity to establish a new generation of Eagles while preserving the traditions and relationships that have defined the club since its founding.

You don't need years of rugby experience to be part of the team. Whether you're an experienced player, a former athlete looking for a new challenge, or someone who has never touched a rugby ball, there is a place for you in the FGCU Rugby community.

We're looking for players, leaders, volunteers, alumni, and supporters who want to help build something lasting.

The club has a history. The alumni have kept the tradition alive. Now it's time to build the future.
